Summer Outdoor Learning Adventure 2008

The natural world is filled with mystery and beauty. One can spend a lifetime exploring any one of its many secrets. . . . The SUMMER OUTDOOR LEARNING ADVENTURE will kindle interest and spark curiosity about the natural world in which we live. Each one-week session will offer age-appropriate activities in outdoor living skills, ecology, plants and wildlife, and pond study. Each day will be an exciting blend of fun and learning taught through games, crafts, hikes, and hands-on discoveries.

TOUCH THE EARTH - AGES 6 -8
July 21 - 25
Discover ways to get a closer look at wild things. Playful activities focus on developing a connection with nature through expanding a sensory awareness of the environment. Creative expression and self-awareness are encouraged while exploring the world with all of the senses.

EXPLORERS - AGES 9 &10
July 28 - August 1
Investigate nature’s secrets by exploring different habitats. Find out what’s special about the forest, the pond, the bog, and all the other places surrounding you. Hands-on activities let you detect and solve the puzzles of living plants and animals.

ADVENTURERS - AGES 11 -12
August 4 - 8
Venture into the world of ecological relationships through adventure-based learning. Go on all-day hikes on forested trails, navigate orienteering courses, learn outdoor living skills, practice archery and paddle a canoe or kayak. Examine in more detail the habitats around you.

TEEN EXPEDITIONS - AGES 13 -14
August 11 - 15
Step it up a notch with our teen expedition camp. Each day, teens will venture out on a different expedition: backpacking, canoeing or kayaking. Teens will develop leadership and team building skills while they practice and sharpen their outdoor living skills.
